Joey & Linda, It was a real pleasure seeing the band again and talking to y'all , it was an awesome show, The California Ramblers have a sound all their own, we hope to see you again soon. Maybe we'll even find our way to "Toots" one day.

Good Evening FB Friends! Anyone who knows me knows how much i love local talent. I love music with all my heart. But just recently started to listen to our local bluegrass bands on a regular basis. A good friend Stu Geisbert got me to go some when i was about 17 to play with his friends but i just never took to it like he did. I loved country, classic & southern rock , blues, R & B Motown and rockabilly. I liked bluegrass but didn't play it often. But the past year I've listened to more of it. The California Ramblers have impressed the hell out of me. Every cd they put out gets better & better. They in my opinion lead the pack! Now there are a lot of amazing pickers and bands in our area. But i just like what they do and how they do it. I watched Joey Tippett grow into one of the best pickers and singers out there. And he's got fantastic talent all around him. Wife Linda Tippett is rock solid on bass. Trampas Goldsmith on guitar just tears it up and Jerry on the fiddle is as good as it gets! I can say now I'm a fan! There are so many amazing pickers in this area. Jay Armsworthy, Charley Thompson and another amazing picker Woody Norris. One of the best I've seen. I met Woody when he was about 16 on his family farm. I was friends with his brother. He was impressive then but amazing now. I know I'm slow getting on the Bluegrass Bus but im on it now! Looking forward to making a festival soon as i heal up. Not long ago i got together with Stu good friend Hafold Wood and Classmate from CHS 1976 Bernice Moore and we had a good time here at the schoolhouse pickin, singing & talking. Looking forward to the next jam session. Im learning more bluegrass. Joey & Linda recently sent me 4 of their CD's and i love them all. Especially the originals they wrote. Thank you Joey & Linda for hooking me up. See you at a festival soon!

Ya'll know that music makes up a big part of who i am. I especially Love our local talent in Southern MD. I like all kinds of music. I dont label it. If i like what i hear i listen to it! Right now its the "California Ramblers" i want to talk about. I know the Band members but have never heard them play much. Here at the Schoolhouse the acoustics are amazing. My friends and Neighbhors Donnie & Ginny Lacey brought me two of The California Ramblers CD's. I put them in my CD Player and for close to 4 hours listened to them over again & again. Really listened. All 5 members are so talented. Great musicianship and singers. Joey Tippett has turned into one of the best singers i know. I havent played much Bluegrass. I only know a handfull of Bluegrass songs. But i know when i hear good music! And brother thease four guys along with Linda Joeys wife playing a great upright Bass are pure Badass! Joey has turned into a fantastic Banjo picker. Got to use the right words! Bluegrass folks dont play they Pick! Billy Thompson picks a great mandolin. Good to see him back with the band. Trampus has always been a great guitar picker & Jerry in my opinion is the best fiddle player around! Back when i was a youngster playing drums in a band with my father Webster, uncles Sonny & Tommy Ryce and good Family friend Oscar Buckler, we played a bennifit at the Coonhunters lodge for Jerry's dad Mac. Lots of folks showed up to pay there respect to a great musician and his family. I know i was glad to be a small part of it. I was 15 at the time. And got my first taste of Bluegrass music that day. I can say now without a doubt i am a Fan of "The California Ramblers"! Hope to hear you live somewhere soon! Happy "Pickin" ya'll
